Hey, I am Fauzi. I am a private tour guide here, in Medan. I was born and raised in Medan, North Sumatra. I'm open-mind, friendly and warm person. I speak English and a little Deutsch (German). I understand that every culture is different in Medan. And I know very well about some History behind some historic building here in Medan. Such as: Istana Maimoon / Sultan Palace , Mesjid Raya / Grand Mosque, Tjong A Fie Mansion and also for the culinary,there is an oldest restaurant in Medan called Tip Top.

      A bit about Medan, Medan is the third largest city in Indonesia and also the biggest city outside of Java Island. It is well-known for its multi-cultural and multi-ethnic society (including large populations of Batak, Javanese, Malay, Chinese, Indian, Minang, Sundanese, and Madurese) creating a unique cultural blend.

       Medan is also well-known for historical-tourism and culinary-tourism. Each of the city's ethnic groups contributes to the culture. It is proven by some historical buildings, such as Istana Maimoon / Sultan Palace , Mesjid Raya / Grand Mosque, Tjo A Fie Mansion and also for the culinary,there is an oldest restaurant in Medan called Tip Top. And I will guiding you to visit these historic buildings and tell you the stories and the legend behind the buildings or the monument and having a dinner at the Tip Top Restaurant (the oldest restaurant) also I will treat you as my service, having Liang Tea, it’s a herbal tea which is made with a special recipe from china made of Chrysanthemum flower and it’s a healthy tea, it will make your throat and body warm and people here believe the tea can cure the flu and brings you health and it’s sold just by side of the street.

 OUR ITINERARY:

12.00AM – 12.30PM:

I pick you from your hotel if your hotel quite far from the places we want to go we will use Becak (traditional rickshaw), because I believe you want to feel the experience using our traditional transportation.

12.30PM – 13.30PM:

MESJID RAYA / GRAND MOSQUE

We Will visit Mesjid Raya / Grand Mosque. Mesjid Raya / Grand Mosque is one of the oldest Masque in Medan. And one of Medan icon.

 This Mosque is built by Sultan Makmun Al-Rasyid Perkasa Alamsyah in 1906 and finished in 1909. The architect of this Mosque was Captain Thomas Von ERP and continued by JA Tingdeman. This mosque is very unique because different with other mosque, it has 8 side in it.

The design of this mosque was  is the of influenced by Malay, Moroccan,Europe and Middle East style and this is the official mosque for the Sultan and spent 1 million gulden.

13.45PM – 14.45PM:

 Istana Maimoon / Sultan Palace

We will visit Istana Maimoon / Sultan Palace. Istana Maimoon / Sultan Palace is Built by the Kesultanan of Deli (Sultan of Deli), Sultan Makmun Al Rasyid Perkasa Alamsyah in years 1887–1891, the palace covers 2,772 m² and has 30 rooms. The Palace has become a tourist destination not solely because of age but also because of the unique interior design of the palace, mixing elements of Malay cultural heritage, Islam, Spanish, Indian, and Italian style.

       Outside the building but still in the Inside of Istana Maimoon / Sultan Palace area there is A Broke Cannon which is very known. And there is a story lagend behind it, and some of people here belive in the story and oftenly come to see the cannon and hoping for a bless even some of them come from other country like Malaysia.

15.00PM – 16.00PM:

 Tjong A Fie Mansion

From Istana Maimoon / Sultan Palace we will take Becak (traditional rickshaw) to go to Tjong A Fie Mansion. Tjong A Fie Mansion is a mansion in Medan, North Sumatra, built by Tjong A Fie (1860-1921) a Hakka merchant who came to own much of the land in Medan through his plantations, later becoming 'Majoor der Chineezen' (leader of the Chinese') in Medan and constructing the Medan-Belawan railway.The building is constructed in Chinese-European-Art Deco style, and was completed in 1900.

16.00PM – 17.00PM:

TIP TOP RESTAURANT

Tip Top Restaurant is the oldest restaurant in Medan. This restaurant established since 1929 and at that time it’s name was Jangkie. But,in 1934 the restaurant moved to Ahmad Yani street (kesawan) and changed the name become Tip Top until now.

They maintain the design of this restaurant just like when it is built at he first time in 1934, so you will feel the vintage atmosphere. There some delicious menu that you have to try here, the have the Indonesian, Chinese and western food. And you have to try the ice cream, the ice cream is made in the traditional way, and they pick selectively the ingredients of their dish. And it’s a much place to visit.

15.15PM – 16.45PM:

LIANG TEA / CHRYSANTHEMUM FLOWER TEA

It’s tea time, we will having Liang Tea / Chrysanthemum tea, this is a special bonus of our city tour. I will treat you for this Liang Tea / Chrysanthemum tea as my serves. Not much people know where is the place that sells this Liang Tea / Chrysanthemum tea but for those who like tea, this place is really known. Liang tea /Chrysanthemum tea is a herbal tea which is made with a special recipe from china made of Chrysanthemum flower and it’s a healthy tea, it will make your throat and body warm and people here believe the tea can cure the flu and brings you health and it’s sold just by side of the street. And you should try this tea, an experience that you can’t get any where. And this is the end of your city tour and I will take you back to your hotel using Becak (traditional rickshaw).

In this are there also a hot sulfur pool where you can relaxing your body after the rafting.. and you also can see the Maryke Waterfall. It’s going to be a great memory for you.
